My computer has been lying in a tomb now for a few days, but it will be resurrected this evening and I’ll be back online. Once I get it back, I’m renaming it Jesus. Being without the internet, I’ve been forced to record video posts. One is a tour of my bedroom, the other is a post I made from my shower.

***Posted from the laptop, which ALSO needs to be reformatted.

I sent two perfectly clean children out to play in the backyard. Avery’s clothes were spotless, her shoes devoid of any traceable blemish, her pigtail braids immaculate.

We laughed about it and Maggie threw her nasty little ass into the tub. Man, but I love these kids.

Gannongate: ‘I asked to come. They allowed me to come’
Access to the White House press room was easy, former reporter Jeff Gannon tells NBC’s Campbell Brown in an exclusive interview
Source: MSNBC [Link]

I was asked by an acquaintance why I was so fired up about this Jeff Gannon/James Guckert, and whether or not I’d be so incensed if he were clearly a Liberal asking the same sorts of questions in the White House briefing room. I thought it was a worthy question, unless you’re not paying attention, and then it sounded rather like something Mr. Gannon/Guckert himself would have asked me.

Gannon: I go to the gate. I show my driver’s license, which I showed you. It has my given name. And that’s how I gained entry.

A quick check for a criminal record is all that’s required. Gannon avoided the extensive FBI background check most reporters go through for permanent access.

Here’s my first problem. If your nose is a visible shade of Bush Brown and your breath smells like Sean Hannity’s dick, then you’re granted access - practically sight unseen. In the age of the Patriot Act, let’s not forget THAT stellar abortion of logic. Let’s make it a GOP slanted press pool by inviting “journalists” who are going to slam Liberals and ask rhetorical questions, because they are the easiest ones for Herr Bush to answer. doG forbid you asked anything challenging, because then you’re lumped in with the crowd of heathen traitors who are trying to destroy this country because they hate freedom and morality. I personally take pride in being a member of said crowd, I go on record having said so. Then again, I don’t believe in heaven or hell, but I imagine if there were such things that heaven would be boring as fuck and hell would be nothing more than heaven’s smoking section, so figure that one out. So first point established, if you follow the crowd, we’ll waive the standards we hold up to every other person in the world. To say nothing of the fact that he has no previous experience whatsoever as a journalist. You know what? I’m an astronaut. No, I’m a psychic, only a real one. Think it and be it, right Jim/Jeff?

Next problem: Fags For Bush. Yes, I said Fags For Bush. Examine that for a second or two, but no longer or blood will fly out of your nose. Here, I’ll say it again only louder this time: FAGS FOR BUSH. Looks a lot like Jews For Hitler, doesn’t it? “We’re here! We’re queer! And Goshdarnit, we are some self-loathing bastards! SEIG BUSCH!” I don’t understand a lot of things, I don’t know how you can reconcile being a Republican and Queer at the same time, it’s far too hypocritical. It’s one thing to be closeted and live in fear of being discovered, it is quite another to know you’re a minority and align yourself with a political group that actively seeks to strip your own people of well deserved rights and equality. Anyone who doesn’t get that right off the bat, I have to worry about.

EDIT: The dam has burst on Bullshit River, ladies & germs. From Gannon/Guckert’s own blog, no less. According to Kos: “Guckart is one giant, balding deutsch bag. He actually thinks conservatives will give a shit about him!!! The only reason they have come to his aid is in defense of Bush. They’ll abandon him as soon as they can. Reminds one of scenes from 80’s movies when the popular high school crowd finds out the new guy is actually poor and his dad is unemployed.”. Beautifully illustrated!

Then enter Ubercunt Ann Coulter for another off kilter dig. And then Daniel J. Phillips of the Biblical Christianity blog. Carefully observe the strange absense of a real issue or valid point, in keeping with Ann’s frothing. She could make a mean cappuccino with that mouth.

7 month old infant baby prosecutors say was raped will recover, officials say
An infant who prosecutors say was sexually assaulted is expected to be released from a hospital in the next few days and make a full recovery, officials said.
Source: CNN [Link]

The 7-month-old has been removed from a respirator and is eating on her own, County Child Protective Services spokeswoman Estella Olguin said Wednesday.

The baby suffered damage to every vital organ and her tongue had been nearly severed when she was admitted to the hospital February 2, police said. Prosecutors say she was sexually assaulted.

“We’ve never seen those types of injuries in a baby that was alive,” Olguin said.

The child’s parents, Ivan Castaneda, 22, and Donna Marie Norman, 19, have been jailed and charged with injury to a child. Attorneys for both parents deny that their clients were responsible for the injuries.

The parents took her to a hospital February 2 and said she was suffering from congestion. When doctors examined her, they found severe internal and external injuries.

The baby and her 16-month-old sister were expected to be placed in an adoptive home.

I cannot even comment on this one, I’m too horrified.

I was feeling very nostalgic for some reason today, so I made a huge playlist. I started typing out the tracks, but decided this was a better idea.

I like having this kind of music playing when I’m cooking, and since I’m making chicken & dumplings for dinner I figured I needed lots of music. Last night I made crabcakes for dinner, and the night before I made Japanese. I made a salad with ginger dressing (like the kind you get in hibachi restaurants), teriyaki chicken with mustard and ginger sauces on the side (like the kind you get in hibachi restaurants), stir fried zucchini, mushrooms, bean sprouts, and onions, and vegetable fried rice. Tomorrow I’m making red sauce for pasta and bruschetta for dinner.

Damn, PREACH it, Luther! I hate skinny Luther, I love some big Luther though.

Jailhouse Crock
Some Republicans in Arizona want to take all Mexican nationals in state prisons and build a new prison for them — in Mexico.
Source: Alternet [Link]

Supporters of the measure say it would save Arizona taxpayers up to $100 million a year — money which pays for the approximately 4,000 Mexican nationals currently in Arizona prisons — because it’s cheaper to build and operate a prison in Mexico than in the U.S. “We’re getting stuck with a high volume of illegal felons and having to pay for it,” says Republican State Rep. Russell Jones, the bill’s sponsor. “If the federal government is not going to reimburse us, then they should at least put us in a position where we can mitigate some of the costs to Arizona taxpayers.”

Okay, I’ll be the first to ask. Why the fuck are these morons so intent on spending wasting money? Wouldn’t the cumulative costs of this construction and operation be better served increasing border control and security? Chain link sure is effective, fucking hell - my yellow Lab could’ve scaled that shit.

Forgetting the fact that this is the land of opportunity for immigrants, I realize that this is a significant problem for border states. But for fuck’s sake, we as a nation cannot afford to be wasting money on stupid, ineffective bullshit like this. THIS is the kind of shit that really fucking pisses me off. THIS is the kind of shit that grinds my ass to the bone on a daily basis.

Form a union of border states, hire in local contractors, and build a border rampart. Fire the FUCK out of out existing inept border security and replace them with competent guards. Send a portion of the bill to the Mexican Consulates of said states. In the long run, that’s a better alternative than financing the construction of a prison in a foreign country, which will only serve to invite more crime and increase costs exponentially by inmate processing, trials, and subsequent extradition back to Mexico - all of which gets paid for by, you guessed it!, taxpayers. And certainly not the ones who can afford it. This proposal of financing a new prison across the border is ludicrous, it does nothing to prevent the crime from happening. There’s nothing proactive about it. Fucking idiots!

I had better sleep tonight, that’s all I’m saying. It’s going to rain which usually helps me sleep. I’ve had maybe 10 hours of sleep since Sunday, or at least it feels like that. I’m about to hit that wall where sleep deprivation makes me feel as though every last nerve in my body is exposed. My eyes already feel like I have sand in them. My thinking is a little slow and erratic, so either I’m getting geared up for sleep or this is nature’s cruel joke on me. Again.
